If my laptop is closed (not running or connected to Wi-Fi) and I add a new contact on the Android Galaxy S4, will it still sync with the laptop even though it’s closed?

    • Akruto Support July 8, 2014 at 10:23 am

When your laptop is closed you can still use your Outlook data on your devices (phones and tablets). You can even change your calendar, contacts, add new appointments, etc…

When you turn your laptop back on and your laptop and your devices connect to your network, sync will happen automatically. Any changes you made on any of your devices will get applied to your other devices.

I haven’t been able to sync my Samsung Galaxy S4 data to anything, because of the difficulty. There’s much on my phone that I’d like to sync with my computer for backup. I’m concerned about data loss during the initial sync. Will all data(calender, contacts, notes, and tasks/reminders from my S4 transfer, intact with alarms, to Outlook on my computer during the initial setup sync?

    • Akruto Support November 17, 2014 at 6:53 pm

We’ll be happy to help you with the Galaxy S4 calendar backup, or contact backup, so that you are not worried. But AkrutoSync is not going to erase your existing data. Click the support icon at the top of this page to get in touch with us.

Hi. I currently have my Android device synchronized with a Google account (gmail) which also gets synch from the cloud. Of course, I don’t like that, and that’s why I’m here..;)

    However, I have 3 questions:
1- My 1st question is, do I need to create a new profile in my Android device in order to sync my Outlook (contacts, tasks, calendar..) throughout Akruto? Or will it overwrite my current Calendar, tasks and contacts existing in my gmail account? (this latter option would not have much sense because it would be also synch in the cloud).

2- My second question: How often/When does Akruto+Desktop Outlook sync with my Android device? Does it sync everytime I make a new entry in my desktop Outlook Calendar? Or does it sync every XX minutes? Or do I manually have to click somewhere in order to start the sync?

3- How long does it take to synch just 1 new event? I’m asking this because I’ve tried other software in the past which would take from 5 minutes to 40 minutes for EVERY synch, each time. I was used to Microsoft ActiveSync which would only take a few seconds to sync if just a couple of changes in desktop Calendar or contacts had been made.
    I’ll wait for your comments.
    Thank you,

AkrutoSync will not overwrite the data on your device. It will guide you through creating a new profile on your device so that all your Outlook data is copied to your device during the first sync.

Normally, any changes made on the phone sync within seconds and any changes made in Outlook sync within a couple of minutes. If you prefer, you can change this to sync only every N minutes or manually.

The first sync copies everything to your phone, but after that it transfers only new and changed items, so it is very quick.

I installed it, configured it following your tutorial step by step…but could not it get working…

It would be good if at least you could provide another sync option for straight USB cable connection (just like ActiveSynch did)?

Is this only one Outlook to one phone? Can we sync to several phone in one time?

    • Akruto Support February 16, 2015 at 11:50 am

There is no limit on the number of phones and tablets that you sync with Outlook. Synchronizing multiple computers is more difficult and may or may not work. If you need to sync multiple computers, contact support for help. If you just have multiple phones and tablets, it should just work.

I have a Galaxy Note 4 and want to sync one of my calendars to my work calendar that is a shared calendar on outlook through work. and not all of them, I keep my personal and my work calendar on outlook separate, can I just sync my work calendar and not everything on my galaxy note calendar, because my personal calendar is on my phone as well.

    • Akruto Support October 28, 2015 at 4:36 pm

Brenda, you can sync one of your Outlook calendars with your phone using AkrutoSync. You can also maintain additional calendars on your phone without syncing them to Outlook. And you can maintain additional calendars in Outlook without syncing them with your phone.

At the moment, AkrutoSync can synchronize only one calendar (which satisfies your requirement as you described it). We are adding an option to sync multiple calendars. Still you will be able to exclude from your sync any calendars that you don’t want to sync if that’s what you want to do.

For some reason after using Akruto for about a year my phone calendar has multiple duplicate entries. I deleted all entries from my phone and now want to sync ONLY from Outlook to the phone (so that no entries are deleted from Outlook). How do I ensure a one-way only sync? Thanks.

    • Akruto Support November 16, 2015 at 12:36 pm

It sounds like you are asking how to discard the data on your phone and start fresh, using just your Outlook data. To do this, delete and re-create the fake Exchange account you are using on your phone. This will cause your phone to discard its old Outlook data, connect to Outlook and get all the current data.

    Hello,

As regards Calendar synchronization, I keep all past events in the calendar of Outlook.

is it possible to limit the synchornization for, for example, only the past 6 months (but keeping on the phone older evens ? WIthout any limit it might take more an more time to synchronize.

I am currently using an other application and if I limit the synchronization to 6 months, then all other events are deleted, which is not what I am looking for.

    • Akruto Support November 16, 2015 at 12:41 pm

      Hello JLB,

By default, AkrutoSync synchronizes your entire Outlook calendar, including all past events. If you do not want to synchronize your old events, but still want to keep them in Outlook, you can use Outlook archive feature to archive your older events. You can also turn on Outlook auto-archive feature, so that as your current Outlook events become “old” (say older than six months, or another period that you define) Outlook moves them from your active calendar to an archive.

Just bought Galaxy S6. It has neither a calendar or task app at the moment. Which apps should I use if I want to sync with Outlook 2010.

    • Akruto Support December 28, 2015 at 4:24 pm

John, Samsung Galaxy S6 should have a built-in calendar app, which also handles Tasks. Of third-party calendar apps, we like aCalendar and Touch Calendar.

My Galaxy S4 and my desktop Outlook used to sync through Kies, but that no longer works. I have been keeping my desktop Outlook (actually, a laptop) calendar up to date. Do I need to delete all the old calendar data from the phone before installing Akruto to prevent duplication? If so, how do I do that?

    • Akruto Support March 28, 2016 at 10:21 am

To avoid duplicates, after you set up sync, open the calendar on your phone. Tap menu, then tap “calendars to display”. You will see a list of calendars with checkboxes. Makes sure that Akruto calendar is checked and any other calendars are unchecked. Tap “Save” or “OK”. This will make sure that your phone displays only events synced with Outlook through AkrutoSync, so that there are no duplicates.
