Sync iPhone 6 with Outlook

Sync iPhone 6 with Outlook

With the latest and greatest in software and apps, the iPhone6 is designed to be the best of the best. Yet, it’s not always effortless to sync iPhone with Outlook, even with the iPhone 6. Apple forums are full of stories and complaints from many users struggling with how to sync Outlook calendar with iPhone.

Sync iPhone 6 with Outlook

Search the forums for Outlook iPhone sync. Each forum is filled with accounts of users trying to sync Outlook contacts with iPhone, often spending hours trying to remedy the problem. Unfortunately, Apply Support and other supposedly helpful articles were no help.

Trying to Sync iPhone 6 with iTunes and iCloud

I wanted to know what would happen if I tried to sync iPhone 6 with Outlook through iTunes and iCloud. My team and I tested iPhone Outlook sync with both options. The result? As expected, Outlook sync through iTunes was erratic and unsuccessful.

One team member attempting to sync with iTunes through Wi-Fi couldn’t get the feature to work at all. She proceeded to follow Apple’s Troubleshooting iTunes Wi-Fi syncing article with no success. And iCloud? We couldn’t get Outlook 2013 to sync with it at all.

Synchronizing your contacts, calendar, reminders (tasks in Outlook) and notes shouldn’t be this hard or frustrating. There’s an easier way. We aimed to create a simple sync tool that does the all the heavy lifting. The result of our efforts is AkrutoSync, a seamless two-way sync software for Windows PC that syncs iPhone 6 with Outlook.

Akruto syncs:

  • Seamlessly: Uses iPhone 6’s own apps to sync Outlook calendar, contacts, tasks and notes.
  • Automatically: Continuously syncs when you’re on the same network as your PC.
  • Privately: Syncs over encrypted Wi-Fi (no data plan) or Internet (data plan).
  • Completely: Syncs everything including long notes. Nothing gets cut off.
  • Reliably: No more worrying about disappearing information or sync stops working.

Should you want to sync other devices besides your iPhone 6, our single software license will sync with unlimited compatible devices including Android and Windows Phone.

Sync Outlook Calendar with iPhone 6

The calendar app on the iPhone 6 has a clever little icon that shows today’s date. You should be able to keep using that app since it works with all of the iPhone’s integrated functions. That’s why Akruto can sync Outlook Calendar with iPhone 6’s own built-in calendar app.

Not all synchronization programs sync Outlook with the iPhone’s calendar. Instead, they add their own calendar apps to your iPhone. And you can’t delete the iPhone’s calendar app. All you can do is move it.

Akruto also syncs all past, current and future events between Outlook calendar and your phone. Recurring, all-day and standard appointments and exceptions stay intact.

Sync Outlook Contacts with iPhone 6

You may have already started using iPhone 6 contacts app. Similar to the calendar app, Akruto syncs Outlook contacts with the iPhone contacts app. Some sync programs add their own contacts app, so your phone will show two separate contacts apps at all times due to the fact that Apple won’t let you delete its contacts app from the iPhone.

Your contacts’ photos and notes will all transfer between Outlook contacts and iPhone 6. Akruto syncs everything you have in Outlook with your iPhone.

Sync Outlook Tasks with iPhone 6 Reminders

Your system for getting things done won’t change. Since Akruto can sync Outlook Tasks with iPhone 6 Reminders, you can continue managing your everyday tasks as you always have.

When you sync Outlook tasks with iPhone using Akruto, you skip the inconvenience of having to create an account with a task app’s website, installing a separate task app, putting your information in the cloud and then having to use iCloud or iTunes.

Sync Outlook Notes with iPhone 6

Sync Outlook Notes with iPhone 6 has one advantage over iCloud and iTunes sync. It lets you take notes right in Outlook for PC using a full keyboard. Then, Akruto syncs the notes with your mobile devices so you can have access to your information wherever you go.

Akruto can sync lengthy notes without deleting or cutting off information or sharing your valuable data with the cloud.

Your Complete Outlook iPhone 6 Sync Solution

It can be easy to accidentally delete information from your iPhone without being able to restore it. (There is an undo feature on the iPhone: shake your phone.) This is where the power of Akruto’s reliability is most evident. Because of the sync history feature, you don’t have to worry about accidental deletions or remember how to undo your last action.

In case of deletion emergency, just go to Akruto on your PC to review changed, added and deleted information. Find the deleted information and you can restore it with one click.

You only do three things when you use AkrutoSync:

  • Install the program.
  • Follow Akruto’s simple instructions when your PC’s IP address changes.
  • Use sync history as needed.

If you need help with installing or anything else, we provide 24/7 support — even to customers trying out the software. Customers often say they “set it and forget it.” You can always count on AkrutoSync to sync Outlook with iPhone 6. See how Akruto works for you now and try the full version free for seven days.

Three Ways to Sync iPhone 6 with Outlook

You may have owned different types of phones, but one thing remains unchanged: you use Outlook to keep track of your life. Most phones don’t sync with Outlook out-of-the-box requiring software to make it work.

Furthermore, there have been stories of iPhone contacts disappearing. This usually happens when the owner upgrades the iOS, resets the phone, experiences a random phone restart or does a jailbreak. And in some cases, none of these were the cause.

You have three options to sync iPhone 6 with Outlook: iTunes, iCloud or third party software like AkrutoSync. Choosing the right sync option ensures you have your data backed up at all times. Then restore it when needed.

Before you choose one of these methods, be sure to back up your iPhone and Outlook.

Ways to sync iPhone 6 with Outlook

Syncing with iTunes

Using iTunes for Windows, you can sync Outlook contacts, calendars, notes and reminders with the iPhone. Still, many people have reported missing or incomplete data when synching. They also say that it won’t work with Outlook 2013.

Running iTunes also slows down some computers. You probably update your Outlook information on a daily basis. To open iTunes daily can affect your work as it uses up a lot of computer resources.

The advantages of using iTunes is that it’s free, syncs media, doesn’t use the cloud and offers a Wi-Fi sync option. Wi-Fi, however, doesn’t work for everyone. One of our team members wanted to use Wi-Fi to sync, but it wouldn’t work. Apple’s article on Troubleshooting iTunes Wi-Fi syncing didn’t resolve the problem either.

Before you sync with iTunes, be sure you have the latest version of iTunes.

Sync iTunes with Outlook Advantages and Disadvantages

Advantages

  • Does not sync through cloud.
  • iTunes is free.
  • Wi-Fi option.
  • Syncs media.

Disadvantages

  • Not automatic.
  • Doesn’t sync all data.
  • When iTunes isn’t running, it doesn’t sync.
  • Wi-Fi option doesn’t always work.

Syncing with iCloud

Many users in the online forums report that iCloud does not work with Outlook 2013. Several quote Apple’s tech support personnel saying it won’t ever work. We tried it ourselves and it failed. It’s a free service as long as you stay within your free account’s storage limits. ICloud automatically and continuously backs up your data, but it comes with the price of storing your private information in the cloud.

We’ve heard too many true stories about how easy it is to hack someone’s account, even with two-factor authentication. For many people, the cloud isn’t an option. To use the cloud, you’d need to take the extra step of moving your contact and calendar data from your existing folders to the iCloud-provided folders in Outlook. If you need everywhere access to your information, can live with the cloud, don’t use Outlook 2013 and don’t mind moving your contact and calendar data, you can download iCloud for Windows to give it a try.

Sync iCloud with Outlook Advantages and Disadvantages

Advantages

  • iCloud for Windows is free.
  • Use with unlimited devices.
  • Syncs automatically.

Disadvantages

  • Uses cloud.
  • Doesn’t sync all data.
  • Doesn’t use your current Outlook folders.
  • Doesn’t always work.

Syncing with AkrutoSync

AkrutoSync is two-way sync software for Windows PC that syncs Outlook with iPhone 6 and other devices, including iPad, iPod Touch, Windows Phone and Android. Since it’s common to own multiple types of devices, you won’t be limited to one operating system when you use Akruto. What’s more is that none of your private information is stored in the cloud.

One of Akruto’s strengths is its reliability. It completely syncs thousands of contacts, long notes and the notes in contacts. If contacts disappear from the iPhone, Akruto restores it without any effort on your part.

We’re biased, but we know you can count on AkrutoSync to protect your privacy, work consistently and sync everything between Outlook and your iPhone 6. You can see if it meets your needs with the free seven-day trial. Get AkrutoSync here to see how you can directly and effortlessly sync Outlook with iPhone 6.

Advantages

  • One-time fee.
  • Automatic when connected to network.
  • Reliable: syncs all data.
  • Uses your existing Outlook folders.
  • Use with unlimited devices.
  • Does not use cloud.
  • Wireless.

Disadvantages

  • Update settings when IP address changes.
  • Not compatible with BlackBerry.
  • Does not sync media.

Have you been spying on me? 🙂 I had all kinds of problems trying to get my iPhone 6 to sync with Outlook via iTunes. I spent too much time searching forums and trying the suggestions to no avail. Even iTunes Wi-Fi sync won’t work. Tried Akruto and stopped using iTunes for Outlook sync. I don’t like opening it more than I have to because it slows my computer. Only use it for music and app sync, which I don’t need as frequently as I do my Outlook information. Thanks, Akruto!

  • Seaworthy November 15, 2014 at 2:36 pm

Hey, your program works with iPhone 6 Plus, too. I tried it and it was a pleasant surprise.

  • KMorgan November 17, 2014 at 9:17 am

I switched to iPhone 6 from Samsung Galaxy S5. I set up AkrutoSync to sync Outlook. The setup was very easy, since Akruto contains a step by step guide that helped me a lot. Even if I am not that technical, I was able to sync both of my Samsung Galaxy S5 and iPhone 6. Great Software!! Thanks a lot Akruto.

  • Jackie November 23, 2014 at 9:53 am

I hate iTunes. The only thing I want to back up daily is my calendar and contacts. The rest, I can live with once a week backup. Now I use Akruto to back up my Outlook data and it’s saved me a lot of time because it’s automatic and I’m not longer twiddling my thumbs while iTunes hogs my computer.

  • Lisa November 25, 2014 at 10:49 pm

What about multiple profiles in Outlook 2013? I have 3, which means three sets of calendars and contacts. How does Akruto Sync handle that?

    • Akruto Support December 7, 2014 at 1:12 pm

Lisa, if you have multiple profiles, AkrutoSync lets you select the profile or calendar that you want to sync. We are also working a feature to sync multiple calendars.

  • Jim December 9, 2014 at 11:52 am

So Akruto can only sync one calendar currently?

    • Akruto Support December 11, 2014 at 12:00 am

At the moment only one calendar can be synchronized.

  • Wsnda December 27, 2014 at 1:29 am

What about Mac computers or iOS users. I am not using a Windows platform.

    • Akruto Support December 29, 2014 at 5:05 pm

At the moment, AkrutoSync can synchronize multiple mobile OSes (iOS, Android, Windows Phone, BB10, etc), but on the desktop or laptop computer where you have Outlook, AkrutoSync needs you to have Windows. This can be a Windows Virtual Machine running on a Mac. You cannot run AkrutoSync on a Mac without using asa Windows VM at this time.

I have cal alarm as my calendar app. I like it and have been using it for some time. will your software sync what i enter into this calender app with outlook calender? Or does it have to be the native iPhone calender app?

    • Akruto Support January 5, 2015 at 4:57 pm

Dave, AkrutoSync can work with third-party apps, besides Apple’s built-in apps. Could you give us a link to the app you are using, so that we can test how your app works with AkrutoSync? You can reply in the comments here, or contact our support directly, using the contact form on our support page.

For the past week I’ve been looking all over for an easy way to keep all my Outlook data across three of my Apple devices. I have an iPhone 6 and an iPad. My wife has an iPhone 5s. I just want my Outlook data on our devices, so that both me and my wife can update our calendar. I’ve already tried some syncing programs but they either needed something installed on my devices, or just didn’t work! I’ll give this software a try as it looks like just the right fit for my needs! I sure hope it does.

  • AW January 17, 2015 at 2:32 pm

    How do you unsync???

    • Akruto Support January 18, 2015 at 12:08 pm

I only want to sync my outlook calendar with my iPhone 6 plus. Will akruto support the calendar without contacts?

    • Akruto Support February 5, 2015 at 7:15 pm

Yes. AkrutoSync guides you through the setup process and asks you what kind of data you want to sync. You can also change your selection later.

  • Steve February 9, 2015 at 5:01 pm

Does the software change the IP address?

You only do three things when you use AkrutoSync:
    • Install the program.
    • Follow Akruto’s simple instructions when your PC’s IP address changes.
    • Use sync history as needed.

I am in a field site, using a company computer, over a Verizon hotspot. So what will Akruto do to the computer or hotspot, if anything. I really need to sync Notes to/from iPhone 6 & PC.

    • Akruto Support February 10, 2015 at 11:36 am

Steve, when AkrutoSync detects that your computer’s IP address changed, it will direct you to enter the new IP address into your phone. This way your phone can still connect to your computer even if IP address changes. AkrutoSync will show you instructions with screenshots on how to make this change.

I also have my laptop computer with outlook and iphone 6 and ipad , ..is it going to be able to sincronice , first : the ipad with the lap top, and then the laptop with the iphon6 ?

    • James December 8, 2015 at 12:10 pm

It’s two-way sync. Let’s say you enter a new appointment on your iPad, Akruto will sync that new appt with the iphone 6 and the laptop. If you enter an appt on the laptop and then on the iphone, it’ll sync them at the same time.

  • Donna October 13, 2015 at 11:07 am

Will I be using an outlook app on my iphone or the phones mail, calendar, and contacts? Will my phone entries also sync back to my computer in outlook?

    • Akruto Support October 19, 2015 at 2:01 pm

      Yes, AkrutoSync does two-way sync.

    • James December 8, 2015 at 11:55 am

Donna, if you use Akruto to sync iPhone, it will sync with the iphone calendar app — the one that comes with the phone. Same for contacts. It does not sync emails since this capability is already there.

  • Diane Wakefield October 20, 2015 at 12:14 pm

Question: How can I get the “Keep me signed in” feature back on my iPhone 6 — Outlook? That feature hasn’t worked since the 9.0.2 update in October 2015. Outlook makes me sign in every time……

    • Akruto Support October 21, 2015 at 10:06 am

Hello Diane. It does not sound like this is related to AkrutoSync, but we can try to find the answer for you.
Are you asking about the built-in email app on your iPhone, the Outlook app, or Outlook on your browser?

  • James November 6, 2015 at 12:52 pm

Hello, It appears support for syncing Outlook Notes with iOS 9.x is no longer supported (functioning) by Apple.
Would Akruto continue to sync Outlook Notes with an iPhone 5 running iOS 9.1?
    Thank you.

    • Akruto Support November 10, 2015 at 12:27 pm

Yes! You can still use AkrutoSync to sync Outlook Notes with iOS 9.x. Even though Apple removed support for notes sync from iTunes and iCloud, you can use AkrutoSync to synchronize your Outlook Notes with any iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch.

I have two calendars on my iPhone one from Lotus Notes and if I install this program would it affect Lotus Notes side of the calander

        • Akruto Support January 11, 2016 at 6:18 pm

You’ll get a both calendars on your phone. They will not interfere with each other.

  • Brian January 5, 2016 at 2:04 pm

Have you updated your program to work with Outlook for Mac yet? If not, any plans to do it? Thanks.

  • Earl January 11, 2016 at 10:48 am

Is this a two way synch? I mean does it synch from Iphone to Outllook
    Outlook to Iphone

Does it identify conflicts between these two data sources? if so, how does it handle these conflicts?

    Thanks

    • Akruto Support January 12, 2016 at 10:03 am

Yes, it’s a two-way sync. AkrutoSync works like your personal Exchange server. When there is a conflict, the changes you make on the phone will take precedence. However, if you keep sync enabled all the time, you should face no conflicts during the sync process.

  • Melissa February 22, 2016 at 3:27 am

Is there the option to have a one way sync only, so there’s less of a chance of corrupting the Outlook data?

    • Akruto Support February 22, 2016 at 2:35 pm

Hello Melissa. People often express concern with corrupting Outlook data, especially if they have had bad experience with other sync programs. We have an even better solution for this then one-way sync. Every change AkrutoSync makes is recorded (on your own computer). Synchronization History feature of AkrutoSync allows you to see any changes made, undo any changes, and even restore what you have deleted any time.

Yes. Any changes you do in your contacts, calendar or notes will be reflected in your desktop Outlook.

  • William August 10, 2016 at 5:03 pm

Can I sync my iPhone 6s Plus with Outlook 2010? Does your software support this version of Outlook?

    • Akruto Support August 11, 2016 at 2:15 pm

Hello William. AkrutoSync supports all desktop Outlook versions including 2010. That means you can easily sync your iPhone 6s Plus with Outlook contacts, calendar and notes with our software.

      • Adrian Ferrand August 30, 2016 at 1:09 pm

I often work on my outlook emails on my iPhone 6 at night, then when I open up my outlook on my mac the next day the emails are still there, so I have to delete and rework. Does your software sync emails as well? Thanks

  • Rick February 26, 2017 at 5:56 pm

I have two desktops and a laptop with Qutlook. How do i sync my I 6 to all of those?

    • Akruto Support February 28, 2017 at 6:01 pm

If you want both desktops and the laptop to be in sync with each other (and with your iPhone), install AkrutoSync on one computer (say, one of your desktops). Set your iPhone, Outlook on your other desktop and Outlook on your laptop to sync with AkrutoSync. In this setup, because you have multiple Outlooks, you will need Outlook 2013 or later.
