Sync Outlook Calendar with Android

Sync Outlook Calendar with Android

A friend told the story of how she spent too much time updating her calendar in multiple places to keep the information in sync with Outlook and her Android devices. She and her husband share a Google calendar while each has a personal Outlook calendar.

Sync Outlook Calendar with Android

If she entered a new event on her Android, it’d show up in her shared calendar, but not Outlook. So she’d have to re-enter all events when she went back to her computer. A simpler solution to sync Outlook calendar with Android devices would be to use third party software like AkrutoSync. Doing this prevents the need to re-enter information on the phone or computer.

The problem with Google Calendar

Now what about synchronizing her family’s shared Google calendar? Google Calendar Sync is no longer available to sync calendars. Importing a calendar from Google into Outlook is static and won’t update the other calendar when you make changes on one. And vice versa. Exporting Outlook calendar to import it into Google calendar won’t update.

This is a common problem as most people can’t share their business calendars, which uses Outlook. So they use Google to share. Whichever solution you choose, remember that synchronizing with Google calendar uses the cloud.

Sync Google and Outlook Calendars with Android

Still need to sync Google calendar with Outlook? Beware this syncs your information with the cloud, which means less privacy. Try Outlook-Google Calendar Sync, a free app that does that. This with AkrutoSync will sync Outlook Calendar with Android devices. You will never have to enter an event twice.

Update: We’ve heard reports that Outlook-Google Calendar Sync can cause problems. Instead, see Microsoft’s instructions to transfer calendars between Outlook and Google Calendar or a GO Contact Sync Mod from Sourceforge. (Please note that we haven’t tested GoogleSyncMod. It’s only a suggestion.)

Just remember this isn’t a cloudless process. But it allows you to keep your data automatically updated in all places without any effort on your part. The two software programs ensure Outlook calendar syncs with Android devices.

AkrutoSync makes things easier as it syncs Outlook calendar with your Android’s native calendar app. Some third party sync applications add their own software to your Android leaving you with two calendar apps to clutter your screen. Akruto also uses your Android’s native contact, tasks and notes apps.

Gain more control over data with history

Sometimes working with a phone, we accidentally delete information. Akruto has a sync history feature that allows you to review additions, changes and deletions. You can restore deleted information or save all the data.

Cloud vs. cloudless option

If you want to sync Outlook calendar with Android devices, AkrutoSync does the job wirelessly, automatically, securely and cloudlessly. Leave it at that, and you won’t have to go through the cloud.

However, some people want to sync Google calendar with Outlook and Android devices. In this case, Outlook-Google Calendar Sync will take care of it for you. Since both products are downloadable software, you don’t have to worry about the service going away like Google Calendar Sync did.

You can try the full version of AkrutoSync free for seven days. If you like it and purchase a license, we’ll send you a registration code to enter in the software. No downloading or reconfiguring anything again. A license covers one Windows PC and unlimited devices. (The software supports Windows Phone with an iOS option in the works.)

You talk about syncing calendar with Android. Does Akruto sync outlook contacts as well as it does the calendar? It is important to know before I go ahead with testing your product because syncing contacts is actually more important for me.

Thank you for your question, Melissa. Yes, AkrutoSync can sync contacts as well and does it very well. All contact details are synchronized, including contact photos, multiple phone numbers, addresses and other details. If you use categories in Outlook to organize your contacts, AkrutoSync will map them to Android contact groups.

Hello, I have 3 computers (home, work, laptop) plus an android phone that I would like to keep in sync (Outlook calendar and contacts). Does your software provide for this or is it a sync only between one PC and an Android device, not multiple PCs?

    • Akruto Support October 29, 2014 at 6:55 pm

Alex, AkrutoSync is installed on one computer with Outlook. You can connect unlimited devices to it. Normally, a device is a phone or a tablet. But in some cases, you may be able to connect your other computers as “devices” and sync that way. Contact us through the contact us page; we’ll be happy to help.

    CyanogenMod + Moto G, Outlook 2007 + Windows 7 64bit

Can anyone confirm from personal experience that the above combination works for Calendar, Contacts, and Notes? I mean specifically not over the cloud; USB and/or WLAN (WiFi).

    • Akruto Support January 15, 2015 at 1:54 pm

Yes, CyanogenMod works as does Outlook 2007. we do not have a USB option. Your phone makes a network connection directly to your computer. Your data is not visible to any cloud servers; you remain in control of your data. Note CyanogenMod does not have built-in apps for tasks and notes, so if you want to sync them, you’ll need to install a third-party app. Here are some apps you can use

Can I sync my Outlook calendar with the calendar on my Android phone over the Internet? I have Outlook 2016 on my Windows 10 PC and a phone running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Does Akruto support my devices?

  • Derek September 26, 2016 at 12:28 pm

Is it possible to establish one-way syncing between Outlook calendar and my Android tablet (Android 6.0)?
At least I want to be able to turn it off and on again after a while.
Can I synchronize everything from my Outlook calendar with my tablet or your software can’t sync past appointments? Can I switch between syncing via Wi-Fi and syncing over the Internet on the go?

    • Akruto Support September 26, 2016 at 2:05 pm

      Hello Derek,
      1) AkrutoSync has a Sync History feature which is even better than one-way syncing. If you had issues with sync software in the past, your desire for a one-way sync to protect your Outlook data is understandable. The Synchronization History feature of AkrutoSync lets you restore any data that id inadvertently changed or deleted at any time (even if you change or delete it yourself and change your mind months later). This way your Outlook data is safe with a two-way sync.
      2) AkrutoSync can transfer all current and past calendar events.
      3) You can switch the way you sync your Outlook calendar with Andorid tablet. However, you need to reconfigure your PC and tablet each time.

Do both devices have to be on for sync to work? Is the phone communicating directly with the PC or through the internet somehow? Do they have to be near each other to work? Basically, i would like to understand the technology of the syncing better.
