    Hi Caitie,

    Please reply to [email protected]

Before we proceed, we need to verify the following:
    1. Your sync setup, is it (1) Sync over home network/Wi-Fi or (2) Sync over the Internet?

    2. The latest screenshot of AkrutoSync’s current screen from your computer.

    3. What is the Android version of your HTC Android phone (Settings > About phone/device > Android version)?

    4. Are you using Outlook 2002/2003/2007/2010/2013/2016/Office 365 with Outlook 2013/2016 on a Windows XP/Vista/7/8/8.1/10 computer? Is it a desktop or a laptop? Wired directly to the router or connected via Wi-Fi?

If you are not familiar with ‘how to take a screenshot and attaching it to the email’, please use this guide:
    1. Press the “Print Screen” key on your keyboard (also labeled as “Prt Sc” or “PrtScn”). This will capture an image of your entire screen.
Or you can Click on the AkrutoSync window then hold down the Alt button and press Prt Sc. This will take a picture of the “active” window on your screen. An image of the window will be copied to the clipboard. You will not receive any confirmation that the screenshot has been taken.

    2. Paste the screenshot. Once you have made the screenshot, you will need to paste it to an editor. Open Paint from the Accessories section in your Start menu or search Paint in Windows Search. With a new blank canvas open in Paint, press the Ctrl and V buttons together to paste the image onto the canvas. You can also right-click on the canvas and select Paste.

    3. Save the screenshot. Click File, then Save to set the name and file type of the image. You can select the JPG or PNG file type. Select and remember the save location, then click Save.

    4. Attach the screenshot that you saved as a reply to this email.

Alternatively, you can refer to the guide for taking a screenshot here: http://www.wikihow.com/Take-a-Screenshot-in-Microsoft-Windows

    For AkrutoSync version 5.2:
The new version allows the program to be minimized into the Taskbar Notification Area (near the system clock).

Also added a capability to take screenshots right from AkrutoSync to make support’s life easier. To take a screenshot, the small icon in the top left corner of the AkrutoSync window (or press Alt+Space). A menu will open; select “Take screenshot”. You will be offered to select a file name and location for the screenshot file. The default location for the screenshot file is on the desktop and the default file name is AkrutoSync Screenshot.png.

We will wait for your response.

    Hi Ron,

For the error message you are getting, when a security certificate is added to your phone (either manually by you, by another user, or automatically by some service or site you are using) and it is not issued by a pre-approved (by Google) issuer, then Android’s default security setting is to display the warning that “Networks May Be Monitored”.

Unfortunately, the issued warning is needlessly scary and it’s unclear.

The issue and the solution is for you to clear out the certificate store on the phone. Unfortunately, the message is from Android and the only way to get rid of it is to not have the SSL certificate imported.

To clear the certificate, navigate to Settings > Security > User or certificate store > Remove the AkrutoCertificate.

    Alternative: Uncheck SSL Checkbox

For your PST file, AkrutoSync does not have the capability to block the user from copying it. For cases like that, shut down the computer for about 5 minutes and when you reboot, access again the folder of your PST file and copy it.

AkrutoSync will not function if it is in the background only. If you are not using it, right-click its icon on the taskbar and select ‘Quit AkrutoSync’ – so that it will be closed. Same process if you right-click its icon in the System Tray.

    Hi Lynn,

All of the Contacts fields in Outlook will not reflect in any phone be it an Android, Windows mobile or an iPhone. The fields that will be displayed on the phone depends on the Contacts template of the phone. For example, if you have an Android phone, please go to Contacts, tap/click on + or Add Contact or Add Entry, once it loads the template – check also the fields that can be added aside from the standard fields, you will find out that fields like Other in Outlook do not exist.

    Hi Dennis,

Thank you for your interest in AkrutoSync. AkrutoSync will synchronize your contacts, calendar, tasks and notes between Outlook and your devices. It works on Android, Windows phones, and iOS devices (iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch). Your Google Pixel XL is among the Android phones that is compatible with AkrutoSync.

Here is the general guide in using AkrutoSync’s trial version:
Pre-installation, Download, Installation, Activation, Configuration, Sync of the Trial Version
    Installation/Connecting
What you need to do before you set up your sync is to export all contacts from the phone and import them into Outlook. Once they are in Outlook, then you can delete them from the phone – you only do this process if Outlook is not updated and complete for Calendar and Contacts. When you set up your first sync, they will sync to the phone and now will be locked in the AkrutoSync account which will allow you to edit them on the phone or in Outlook.

Here is a link for you to export the data: https://www.akruto.com/backup-phone-contacts-calendar/

After that, delete all calendar entries, contacts, tasks and notes from your phone.

    Configuration
AkrutoSync will synchronize your contacts, calendar, tasks and notes between Outlook and your devices. It works on Android, Windows phones, and iOS devices (iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch).

You must install AkrutoSync on your computer and it will guide you through the configuration process. You will not need to install anything on your phone, but you will simply have to add an Exchange account and login with the “de-facto” email address and password provided in the AkrutoSync window on your PC. This is what is needed for your phone to communicate, and ultimately synchronize with Outlook on your PC.

You can choose to sync over internet, or Wi-Fi. Akruto is cloudless, and syncs directly to your devices. We recommend syncing via Wi-Fi because it is slightly easier compared to setting up sync via Internet. Syncing over the internet is for the users that leave their computer in the same location all the time and where it is always on. The user can then take their mobile device and sync from wherever they are. This means the mobile device should be on a 3G, 4G or Wi-Fi network.

Syncing over Wi-Fi means the phone has to be in range of your Wi-Fi to run the sync. This setup is a bit simpler and is easier to update as the computer moves around and gets a new IP address.

You can try out the software and see if it works for you before you actually purchase it. You can download the 7-day free trial here: https://www.akruto.com/get-akruto-sync/

The email address AkrutoSync is giving you during configuration, is the username@IP address. The username is the username you provide, and The IP address is the IP of your computer. The program uses the IP as a channel to sync your contacts, calendar events, notes and task with your phone. if you continue on with the setup, you will enter that email address into your phone to sync.

    via internet: https://www.akruto.com/user-guide/completing-akruto-sync-setup-to-sync-over-internet/

    TIP:
Sync over home network – NOTE: make sure to use Wi-Fi ONLY on the phone while you are doing this. Cellular/mobile data or data usage must be OFF on the phone.

AkrutoSync can sync one Outlook profile that uses OST/PST data file that contains Calendar, Contacts, Tasks and Notes (it depends which type/s you sync). It cannot sync to two Outlook in 2 separate computers.

    Hi David,

For Android phones, the limit is approximately 1,000 characters, and it will truncate any information beyond that preventing you from editing or adding information through your phone. The limit is also about the same for most other phones.

If you use Contact Notes with a lot of characters from Outlook, there is an alternative PAID app for your Android phone that can view Notes a lot better than the Samsung native contact app. It is also capable of syncing with AkrutoSync, receiving and sending Contacts, Calendar, Tasks and Notes from Outlook. The app is called “TouchDown”. Like Tasks and Notes for MS Exchange, you will have to configure it for AkrutoSync in a few easy steps.

If you would like to try TouchDown instead of Tasks and Notes for MS Exchange, because it shows the complete Contact Notes, you can download TouchDown for your phone from the Google Play store, here (Note that this is a paid app, but it has a demo mode of 30 days: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nitrodesk.droid20.nitroid

    Hi Linda,

If you use 2 sync tools and they sync the same entries – that might cause data to be synched as duplicates. For the case of AkrutoSync, since it syncs Calendar, Contacts, Tasks and Notes (it depends which type/s you sync) – make sure to disable the sync it does for a specific type like Calendar before you will use another sync tool.

    Hi Gary,

The reason why Outlook on the computer must be current (updated and complete) for Calendar and Contacts is because the initial sync when using AkrutoSync is from Outlook on the computer to the phone not the other way around. If the entries in Outlook are not current, you need to either use iTunes or use this guide: https://www.akruto.com/backup-phone-contacts-calendar/ to manually transfer Calendar and Contacts from your iPhone 6 to Outlook on your computer.

On the last step of the configuration wizard be it for Sync over home network (https://www.akruto.com/user-guide/configure-akruto-sync-home-wi-fi-network/) or Sync over the Internet (https://www.akruto.com/user-guide/completing-akruto-sync-setup-to-sync-over-internet/) – iPhone has the ability to prompt you to delete the Calendar and Contacts prior to the initial sync.

    Hi Paul,

The bit version of AkrutoSync is based on the bit version of MS Office and/or Outlook in your computer. You can use this guide: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/What-version-of-Office-am-I-using-932788b8-a3ce-44bf-bb09-e334518b8b19?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US&fromAR=1

If you are using 64-bit for Outlook, please do the following:
    1. Uninstall AkrutoSync from your computer by going to: Control Panel > Programs and Features > Uninstall a Program > Click AkrutoSync > Uninstall
    2. Navigate to C:\Program Files\ and make sure Akruto folder is gone. If not, please delete it.
    3. Navigate to C:\Users\(your Windows username)\AppData\Local\Akruto and delete the Akruto folder from here as well.
    4. Reboot the computer and install the latest version of AkrutoSync: https://www.akruto.com/files/upgrade/download
    5. Download, install and activate. Then reconfigure AkrutoSync.

    Hi Josef,

If you paid the one-time fee of $34.95 USD for that license, that is only good for the computer old laptop. A transferable license is the one for the PREMIUM (the $2.99 USD/month that can be paid per quarter or per year). Please refer to https://www.akruto.com/get-akruto-sync/

Here is a possible workaround, go to https://www.akruto.com/files/upgrade/download
Download, install the latest version of 5.2.18
If it will show that it is a trial version or the trial has expired – activate it using the Registration Code that you provided earlier with your name – if it activates then it is good for the Paid Version. If it does not activate, you need to purchase a new license.

    Hi Jim,

For Sync over home network, the phone connects to Outlook on the computer via a pseudo Exchange account. The server of that Exchange account is the IPv4 Address of the computer (Ethernet for wired to the router, Wireless for via Wi-Fi). The IPv4 Address is not the WAN/External IP Address that your computer hides (just like hidehttps://www.hide-my-ip.com/).

For Sync over the Internet, the phone syncs using its cellular/mobile data that must be 4G / LTE / 4G LTE. The Server used for this sync method is the DNS Hostname that you need to add/create during the initial configuration of AkrutoSync on the computer. That DNS Hostname is linked to your WAN/External IP Address – this type of sync method will not work for you since you are hiding your WAN/External IP Address.

    Hi Dave!

First off, you’ll need to choose as to what connection you will use when you do a sync. Either wired or wireless. Having both wired and wireless connection on will give confusions on your phone where to extract the Outlook files it is supposed to be syncing in to it. Since it seems that the sync is set on your wireless network side, should you use the wireless network will not require you further steps on fixing it. Just make sure no to plug the ethernet cable again. However, if you choose to sync using wired connection means you need to reconfigure it. Plug the cable in, disable the wireless card of your computer. Then click Configure AkrutoSync again. follow the prompts. (before configuring it again, make sure to remove/delete the previously added exchange account on your phone ****only if your Outlook program is up to date with your contacts, calendar, task and note entries****)
