    Hi Eve,

Could you please email the following to [email protected]
Please open the log file of AkrutoSync on your computer. To get to the log file, click the “Open Data Directory” link in AkrutoSync. In the window that opens, find the file akruto.log (sometimes shown as just “Akruto”). Open using Notepad.

Once you open the Akruto log file, scroll all the way down and look for the following:
    check-outlook-versions: Enumerating installed Outlook versions
    AND
check-outlook-versions: Finished enumerating installed Outlook versions

Copy the lines in-between the 2 lines mentioned above and paste them as part of your reply via email on this same thread.

    Hi Nigel,

    Regarding the Exchange account:
Even though you are creating an Exchange account on your phone, there is no Exchange Server involved – or any other kind of server. Your phone connects directly to your computer (either using your local Wi-Fi network FOR Sync over home network OR cellular/mobile data for Sync over the Internet). You are not creating an account with us, or with any other service. The Exchange account simply tells your phone how to find your own computer.

When adding the Exchange account in Android > Settings > use the Search and look for Accounts > Add Account > look for Microsoft Exchange [ActiveSync] or Google Exchange [red M icon].

    Hi John,

Thank you for the details in your recent post. Could you please do the following:
    1. Close any app open then turn off your phone.

    2. Close Outlook and AkrutoSync on the computer. Close any other app/software that is open. Turn off your computer.
When closing AkrutoSync – right click the AkrutoSync icon on the taskbar, then select Quit AkrutoSync.

    3. Reboot the computer after 10 minutes. Make sure it goes back online. If AkrutoSync automatically opens, manually close it.

    4. Launch Outlook, make sure it can send/receive messages.

    5. Reboot the phone. IF you are using Sync over home network – Make sure it is online via Wi-Fi ONLY using the same router as to where the computer is connected at.
IF you are using Sync over the Internet – make sure it is online using its cellular data and Wi-Fi is OFF on that phone. You must see 4G / LTE / 4G LTE on the phone’s signal and the Wi-Fi icon must not be seen on the phone.

    6. Open AkrutoSync. After 5 minutes, please do the process below.

Please create a test contact or appointment in Outlook and then force a sync. Before you force a sync, please make sure that your phone is connected to the same network as your computer, and that AkrutoSync is open and running.

Once you have created the test contact or calendar event in Outlook, please force a sync. To force a sync:
Android: go to “Settings”, then “accounts”, then “Microsoft Exchange” or “Corporate”. Touch the account you created for AkrutoSync. Touch “sync now”.

Immediately after forcing a sync, do you see the sync status under the categories (Contacts, calendar) in the AkrutoSync window change from “none” to “in progress”? If you do, this means that the connection between your computer and phone is OK.

Do you now see the test item on your phone? If not, then please click Select What to Sync on the left panel of the AkrutoSync window and make sure that the correct contact folder is selected. Sometimes, the contact you create in Outlook might not be stored in the folder that you selected to sync in Akruto.

If not, please go to Synchronization History. From there, you can see all the data that has been successfully synced to the phone. Click on the button next to Type and select the Calendar or Contacts sync category if you created a test contact instead of a test calendar event. Do you see the test item that you created in the list?

If you do, this means that the item has successfully synced to your phone, and it is merely hidden from view. You can fix this problem by going to the settings in the contacts app of your phone and set it to display contacts only from the Akruto account, and then do the same for calendar.

NOTE: please provide an update via email to [email protected]

    Hi Robert and Navid,

    Thank you for using AkrutoSync.

On your phone, go to “Settings”, then “accounts”, then “Microsoft Exchange” or “Corporate”. Touch the account you created for AkrutoSync. Tap on the 3 vertical dots- > Touch “sync now”.

Does it show “Last Sync (Date/Time)” or does it show you “Sync is experiencing a problem”?

If it is displaying “Sync is experiencing a problem”, The error message you are getting is an app permission error. A setting on your phone is preventing the sync to start. This error message appears on M Exchange account.

Follow the steps below to fix this issue :

    1. Tap on Settings
    2. Tap on Apps
    3. Tap on the 3 vertical dots
    4. Tap on App Permissions
Note: (If you are using a different phone brand I suggest using the “Search button right after you tap on Settings” and look for “App Permission”
Note2: You can also go to settings > applications and then app permissions is available via the three dots at the top right.

    5. Tap on Calendar
    6. Tap on “Gmail” to turn it ON. The reason why this needs to be turned ON is the exchange account is part of the “Gmail” application. This DOES NOT mean that it will sync via cloud since your server address contains your LOCAL PC Address so it syncs directly with Akruto.
    7. Tap on Back and then tap on Contacts
    8. Tap on Gmail to turn it ON.
    9. Once done, Please force a sync by going to Settings -> Accounts -> Exchange -> More -> Force Sync. The status in Akruto should now change from NONE to IN PROGRESS then SUCCESS.

If you have further questions and concerns, Please feel free to contact us at https://www.akruto.com/contact-us/

This may happen sometimes if you have several versions of Outlook installed at the same time. For example, you upgraded from Outlook 2007 to Outlook 2016 and did not uninstall Outlook 2007. Another possibility is if you just installed Outlook, but did not add any email accounts to Outlook yet. If this does not describe your problem, please contact our support and we will help you figure out what is going on and get your sync working.

    Hi Jim,

Thank you for contacting Akruto. First of all, let’s get your data back. In AkrutoSync in your computer, click on Synchronization History and select Type: Contacts. Do not click Select device/app. Click Save All. AkrutoSync will create a PST file with all your contacts. A ‘Save As’ dialog box will pop up, so that you can save it to your computer. This PST file is also automatically opened in Outlook. Open the Contacts tab in Outlook. You will see a new Contacts folder. Just select all the contacts (with the mouse or press Ctrl-A on your keyboard) and drag them to your regular contacts folder. Then close the backup file in Outlook.

Do the same to recover your calendar. The only difference is that to select all your appointments, you cannot easily select them with the mouse. Instead, press Ctrl-Shift-F on your keyboard. This will open a search box. Just click Search without entering any search criteria. This will find all your appointments. Select them all and drag them to your regular calendar.

Now that the important part – getting your data back – is out of the way, try to figure out what happened. The Synchronization History screen will tell you of every contacts, appointment, task or note that AkrutoSync ever created, deleted or modified. If you need more personalized assistance, contact our customer support and we’ll be happy to help you.

    Hi akrutomountain,

Thank you for your post. AkrutoSync will not work if the computer is connected via VPN.

As per your details, the correct sync method is called Sync over home network also known as Sync over Wi-Fi.

    Requirements:
    1. Computer must be running on Windows XP / Vista / 7/ 8 / 8.1 / 10 with Outlook 2003 / 2007 / 2010 / 2013 / 2016 / Office 365 with Outlook 2013 or 2016.
    2. Computer must be wired or wireless to the router – only one connection.
    3. Phone must be connected via Wi-Fi only and its celllular data / mobile data must be OFF.
    4. Computer and phone must be using the same private IP Address RANGE. A lot of office networks, they have different IP Address range for the wired and the wireless networks – that will not work with AkrutoSync.
    5. If computer and phone are both wireless – must be connected using the same frequency.

For other details regarding your setup, please email it to [email protected]:
    1. The latest screenshot of AkrutoSync’s current screen from your computer

    2. What is the make and model of your phone?
If Android – What is the make and model (Settings > About phone/device > Model number) of your Android phone? What is the Android version of your Android phone (Settings > About phone/device > Android version)?
If it is a Windows phone, what Windows version?
If it is an iPhone or an iPad, what is the iOS version (Settings > General > About > Version)?

    3. Are you using Outlook 2003 / 2007 / 2010 / 2013 / 2016 / Office 365 with Outlook 2013 / 2016 on a Windows XP / Vista / 7 / 8 / 8.1 / 10 computer? Is it a desktop or a laptop? Wired directly to the router or connected via Wi-Fi?

    Hi Don Z,

Thank you for your posted message. The Exchange account on your phone that linked to AkrutoSync is no longer functional because the settings and configuration are linked to the previous router.

For cases like this, you need to reconfigure AkrutoSync.

Before you do that, make sure that the data on Outlook for the contacts, calendars, notes and tasks are updated and complete. Then delete the Exchange account on the phone. If there are still contacts and calendar entries left on the phone after deleting the Exchange account it means they are not linked to the AkrutoSync setup. Make sure those data are found in Outlook as well or else you need to manually transfer them from the phone to Outlook on your computer.
Here is the guide on how to transfer calendar entries and contacts on the phone not linked to the Exchange account: https://www.akruto.com/backup-phone-contacts-calendar/

If all of the data for the calendar, contacts, notes and tasks are cleared or deleted from the phone, reconfigure AkrutoSync. To do that, please follow these steps:
    1. On the left panel of your AkrutoSync, click on ‘Configure AkrutoSync’
    2. Click on ‘Configure Again’ on the next screen. Do not mind about the message regarding phone factory reset.
    3. Follow the on-screen instructions, use this guide: via Wi-Fi: https://www.akruto.com/user-guide/configure-akruto-sync-home-wi-fi-network/ or via internet: https://www.akruto.com/user-guide/completing-akruto-sync-setup-to-sync-over-internet/ (it depends, it is up to you if you want to use the previous sync setup and can even use the same username and password).
For Sync over home network – Make sure to use Wi-Fi ONLY on the phone while you are doing this. Cellular/mobile data must be OFF on the phone.
For Sync over the Internet – Make sure to use cellular data ONLY on the phone while you are doing this. Wi-Fi must be OFF on the phone.

Thank you for the details below. Once you bring the laptop at home, AkrutoSync will default to Sync over home network not Sync over the Internet. If you want to use Sync over the Internet at work and at home, you need to reconfigure AkrutoSync at home for Sync over the Internet using the same settings that you used when you configured AkrutoSync at work.
NOTE: Outlook must be current (updated and complete) for all of its entries in Calendar, Contacts, Tasks and Notes (it depends on which type/s you sync) before you reconfigure AkrutoSync at home. The Exchange account that is linked to AkrutoSync on your phone must be deleted and added again once you reconfigure AkrutoSync for Sync over the Internet when you are at home. The data from Outlook will resync from scratch to your phone once you reconfigure AkrutoSync at home using Sync over the Internet.

    Hi Keith

    Thank you for using AkrutoSync

You can enable the SSL on your Phone without selecting a certificate. The warning that you are getting does not really affect the functionality of AkrutoSync. It will still continue to work.

    1. The latest screenshot of AkrutoSync’s current screen from your computer

    For AkrutoSync version 5.2:
The new version allows the program to be minimized into the Taskbar Notification Area (near the system clock).

Also added a capability to take screenshots right from AkrutoSync to make support’s life easier. To take a screenshot, the small icon in the top left corner of the AkrutoSync window (or press Alt+Space). A menu will open; select “Take screenshot”. You will be offered to select a file name and location for the screenshot file. The default location for the screenshot file is on the desktop and the default file name is AkrutoSync Screenshot.png.

    Hi John,

The error message you are getting is an app permission error. A setting on your phone is preventing the sync to start. We suggest sending us an email at [email protected] so we can send you a guide on how to fix this.

    Hi James,

Thank you for your interest in using AkrutoSync. Are these your phones:
    HTC U11 Life – https://www.gsmarena.com/htc_u11_life-8885.php
    HTC U11+ – https://www.gsmarena.com/htc_u11+-8908.php
If those are your phones, you can sync both with Outlook on your computer using AkrutoSync for Calendar and Contacts entries.

    This is the process of how AkrutoSync works: It is installed on a computer running on Windows XP / Vista / 7 / 8 / 8.1 / 10 computer with Outlook 2003 / 2007 / 2010 / 2013 / 2016 / Office 365 with Outlook 2013 / 2016.

The root source of its data is the PST or OST file of a POP3 or IMAP email account from Outlook on a Windows OS computer. It can sync Calendar, Contacts, Tasks and Notes (it depends which type/s you sync) to Android phones/tablets, Windows mobile phones/tablets, and iOS devices (iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch).

Any entry in your phone for Calendar, Contacts, Tasks and Notes (it depends which type/s you sync) that are not in Outlook on the computer WILL NOT SYNC thru AkrutoSync since the root source is Outlook’s Data file on the computer.

For Calendar and Contacts – you can manually transfer them from the phone to your computer and import it to Outlook on that computer using NON-AkrutoSync tools. Here is the guide: https://www.akruto.com/backup-phone-contacts-calendar/

Once Outlook on the computer is current (updated and complete) for Calendar, Contacts, Tasks and Notes (it depends which type/s you sync) – that is the time we recommend you delete all entries for Calendar, Contacts, Tasks and Notes (it depends which type/s you sync) on the phone and finish the configuration of AkrutoSync in your computer in order for the initial sync to occur.

Sync from phone to Outlook on your computer via AkrutoSync WILL ONLY OCCUR after the initial sync from Outlook on your computer to your phone. Entries that will sync from the phone ARE new entries (linked with the Exchange account that was added one phone as per AkrutoSync’s configuration wizard OR modified/edited/deleted entries that were originally synced from Outlook on your computer for Calendar, Contacts, Tasks and Notes (it depends on which type/s you sync).

    Two sync methods for AkrutoSync:
Sync over home network – the computer MUST BE running on Windows XP / Vista / 7/ 8 / 8.1 / 10 and with Outlook 2003 / 2007 / 2010 / 2013 / 2016 / Office 365 with Outlook 2013 or 2016. The computer can be wired or wireless to a router. The mobile device that it is sync to MUST BE an Android phones/tablets OR Windows mobile phones/tablets OR iOS devices (iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch). The mobile device MUST BE CONNECTED via Wi-Fi only to the same router.

NOTE: Sync over home network can be used OFFLINE as long as your computer and phone is connected to a regular or travel router.

Sync over the Internet – same specifications for the computer and mobile devices. BUT for the mobile device, it MUST BE CONNECTED using its CELLULAR/MOBILE DATA and must be 4G, LTE, 4G LTE connection only WITH very strong cellular signal.

You can also use Sync over the Internet in other networks and/or locations if you have a laptop and you know the admin access to the router of that network. Usually, that is not possible for public Wi-Fi networks like in an airport or a hotel.

NOTE: especially for laptop users with Windows OS on the computer, if they travel or connect to multiple locations while they bring the laptop and the phone – they CANNOT use Sync over the Internet in networks that they do not have admin access to the router.

To better assist you, we need to verify the following:
    1. The latest screenshot of AkrutoSync’s current screen from your computer

    2. For your BB KEYone > What is the Android version of your BB Android phone (Settings > About phone / device > Android version)?

If you are not familiar with ‘how to take a screenshot and attaching it to the email’, please use this guide:
    1. Press the “Print Screen” key on your keyboard (also labeled as “Prt Sc” or “PrtScn”). This will capture an image of your entire screen.
Or you can Click on the AkrutoSync window then hold down the Alt button and press Prt Sc. This will take a picture of the “active” window on your screen. An image of the window will be copied to the clipboard. You will not receive any confirmation that the screenshot has been taken.

    2. Paste the screenshot. Once you have made the screenshot, you will need to paste it to an editor. Open Paint from the Accessories section in your Start menu or search Paint in Windows Search. With a new blank canvas open in Paint, press the Ctrl and V buttons together to paste the image onto the canvas. You can also right-click on the canvas and select Paste.

    3. Save the screenshot. Click File, then Save to set the name and file type of the image. You can select the JPG or PNG file type. Select and remember the save location, then click Save.

    4. Attach the screenshot that you saved as a reply to this email.

Alternatively, you can refer to the guide for taking a screenshot here: http://www.wikihow.com/Take-a-Screenshot-in-Microsoft-Windows

    Hi MaryAnne,

Thank you for the details. You are trying to attempt to configure AkrutoSync for Sync over the Internet. Please take note of the following regarding Sync over the Internet:
We recommend Sync over the Internet if you are using a home or office computer that is connected to its network all the time or almost all the time and it is not being used to other locations. Most users who use this setup often travel and sync via the cellular/mobile data of their phone (must be 4G / LTE / 4G LTE) while the computer is online on the home/office network.
