    Hello Ken,

One of the steps in the configuration was to clear the phone of data. The reason this step is there is primarily to prevent duplicates but also because AkrutoSync cannot sync your existing data from the phone to Outlook. This is because the existing data on the phone is saved under a different account like Google for example. Data cannot jump from one account to the other. You would have to export those contacts out of the phone and remove them from the phone. Then import the contacts into Outlook and AkrutoSync will sync them with your phone but now they will be saved under the Exchange account that was created for AkrutoSync. This will ensure the two way synchronization.

Here is a link that may help with exporting data. Keep in mind that because the contacts from Outlook have already synced over the phone, you may experience duplicates. The easiest way to avoid this is to remove the Exchange account from the phone as this will remove all contacts, calendar, tasks and notes that synced with AkrutoSync from the phone. Once you have the existing contacts imported in Outlook then you will have to configure AkrutoSync again. https://www.akruto.com/backup-phone-contacts-calendar/

in some iOS devices, updating the Exchange account on the phone triggers a full re-sync of the Outlook data that you have in Outlook, and disregards the unsynced data on the phone. Unfortunately, this is an iOS issue that we cannot control. As a work around, you may want to configure your router to always give your computer the same address. To do this, point your web browser to your router, log in and look for an option called “DHCP reservation” or “Address reservation”. Note that this is not required in order to use AkrutoSync. I attached a general guide on how to setup “DHCP reservation” or “Address reservation”.

    Hello Dianne,

We are sorry that you are experiencing problems.

Please click “Select what to Sync” in AkrutoSync window on your computer and make sure that you selected the correct folder to sync for contacts then click save.

If the correct contact folder is already selected, please make sure that the contacts that you are adding on your iPhone is saved under the Exchange account. The phone can have many accounts such as Google, iCloud or others. When you add something from the phone, you need to make sure you are saving it to the AkrutoSync account. Only items saved under the AkrutoSync account can sync back into Outlook. To do this, please follow these steps:

    1. Open Settings on your phone.
    2. Go to “Contacts”.
    3. Please change the “Default Account” to Exchange.
    4. Try to enter a test contact on your phone and check if it will sync to your Outlook.

    I hope this helps.

    Hello David,

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

The server is the value after the @ sign on the email address displayed in AkrutoSync window.

For example, the AkrutoSync window shows the email address [email protected]

The server value will be: aa123.akrname.com

If you are still having problems with the setup, please let us know the exact make and model of your phone (e.g. iPhone X iOS 13) and take a screenshot of AkrutoSync window. Kindly send these information via email to [email protected] so we can check the step you are currently in and assist you on finishing the setup process.

    Hello Ian,

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Did you recently received a firmware update on your phone when this issue started?

    Please try this:

Close AkrutoSync and close your Outlook then restart your router and computer. Restart your phone as well.
After the restart, make sure that both of your computer and phone are connected to the same network.

Open your Outlook first and wait for 5 minutes before forcing a sync on your phone and see if it will make any difference.

If you still encounter the same problem, please take a screenshot of AkrutoSync main window and send it via email to [email protected] for further troubleshooting.

    Hello MLF,

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

A “failed” status indicates that Akruto detects a corrupted or damaged Outlook data (PST) file. Please run SCANPST. Please try to run it to repair any PST file corruptions you may have. You must run SCANPST multiple times until no error in the PST is detected. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/287497

Once SCANPST detects no more errors, please run a repair your Microsoft Office installation and then try to open AkrutoSync again. To repair the installation, open Control panel and navigate to Uninstall a program. Then find Office, right click it and choose to Repair. https://support.office.com/article/HA010382089

If you continue to encounter this problem after the workaround given, please take a screenshot of AkrutoSync main window and send it via email to [email protected] for further troubleshooting.

    Hello Christopher,

When switching computers, please keep in mind the following.

    1) You cannot use AkrutoSync to pull the data from your old phone into your new computer. I assume you have some means to transfer your documents and other files to your new computer. Use the same means to transfer your Outlook data, you may use this guide on how to transfer the Outlook data on your phone to your new PC. https://www.akruto.com/backup-phone-contacts-calendar/

    2) Do not use existing Exchange account on your phone to sync with the new computer. Instead, make sure that your new computer has all your data, delete from your phone the account that you use for AkrutoSync (this will also delete from your phone contacts, calendar and tasks), and set up AkrutoSync on your new computer to sync with your phone (this will copy the data from your new computer to your phone and ensure that two-way sync before your phone and your new computer works)

Please let us know if you require further assistance.

    Hello Kai,

We are sorry that you are experiencing this problem.

Please make sure that you follow the correct steps for creating the Exchange account on your iPhone as follows:

    1. Go to Settings > Passwords & Accounts > Add Account > Exchange
    2. Enter the email address displayed in AkrutoSync window and keep the description box as it is then tap Next.
    3. If you see a prompt if you want to sign-in or configure manually, please choose “Configure Manually”.
    4. Enter the password that you used in the setup then tap Next.
    5. If you see a message “Cannot Verify Server Identity”, please tap “Continue”.
    6. The next panel will be displaying Email, Server, Domain, Username, Password and Description. Please fill up the Username and Server field with the values displayed in AkrutoSync window. The Password field is usually filled up at this point. If not, please also enter the password that you used for AkrutoSync setup. Keep the Domain and Description box as it is then tap next.
    7. Save the account and you will see AkrutoSync window changes to the main panel and the sync will start.

Upon creating the Exchange account on your iPhone, please double check the details especially the Email, Username, Password and Server. It should be exactly the same information displayed in the final step of the setup in AkrutoSync window on your computer.

If you are still getting the same problem, please take a screenshot of the last step of the setup in AkrutoSync window and the Exchange account settings on your phone (The panel that shows Email, Server, Domain, Username, Password and Description) and send it via email to [email protected] for further troubleshooting.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi Vincent,

    Thank you for choosing AkrutoSync.

Yes. You can set up Sync over Home Network through Simple method. The simple method uses a DNS hostname that resolves the IP address of your computer automatically. This will prevent the IP change message and allow you to sync on other networks. As long as the PC and phone are connected to the same network, the sync will work.

If you travel with just your phone and your PC stays connected to the same network and router, you can setup Sync over the Internet. Your phone can still connect to your computer over the Internet and sync. This is useful if somebody else is going to make changes on your computer and you want to see on your phone, while you are away from your computer. Syncing over the internet is for the users that leave their computer in the same location all the time and it is always on. The user can then take their mobile device and sync from wherever they are. This means the mobile device can be on a 3G, 4G or Wi-Fi network.

    I hope this helps.

We are sorry for the inconvenience.

AkrutoSync is having trouble in accessing your Outlook folders.

We need to check and make sure that there is nothing strange in your Outlook configuration.

    1. Do you have multiple copies of Outlook? Perhaps maybe a trial version was installed on your computer that you haven’t been aware of when you first bought it? Please check if you have other installations/versions of Outlook on your computer.

    2. Please OPEN Outlook, and then restart AkrutoSync, and then click “Select What to Sync”. Do you see a list of your Outlook folders?

    3. Please CLOSE Outlook, and then restart AkrutoSync, and then click “Select What to Sync”. Do you see a list of your Outlook folders?

    4. Do you need to enter a password to see your data in Outlook?

    Hello Mike,

You can make AkrutoSync use a different port number, but you will also need to make your phone connect to that port number. Not all phones can do this. To make AkrutoSync use a different port number, you can do the following
    1) Click the “Open Data Directory” link in AkrutoSync.

    2) In the windows that opens, find the file config.txt and double-click it to edit the file.

    3) Add the following lines to the config file

    port.ssl=1443
    port.configuration.external=5555

(you can use other port numbers, instead of the ones indicated above if you like)
    4) Save and close the config file

    5) Restart AkrutoSync

It will use port 1443, instead of 443 and 5555, instead of 54321. On your phone, you will need to make your Exchange account connect to port 1443. Some phones have a box under account settings, where you can enter the port number. On some phones, you can append the port number to the server name, like xy123.no-ip.com:1443 Still other phones do not accept non-standard port numbers at all, in which case you can sync one phone over the Internet and one phone over your home network.

    I hope this helps!

    Hi Mike,

When setting up Sync over the Internet, you can click “Configure Automatically” in the Port Forwarding part. If it did not display “Success”, you can log in to your router settings and create a Port Forwarding rule on your router settings for the local IP address of your PC for ports 443 and 54321.

If you still encounter problems with setting it up, please follow the steps below:

    1. Open Command Prompt on your computer
    2. Type ipconfig then press enter.
    3. Take a screenshot of the results.
    4. Also take a screenshot of the Port Forwarding part in AkrutoSync setup.
    5. Send both of the screenshots via email to [email protected] for further troubleshooting.

    Hi Claire,

Please check the following for me:

    1. Make sure your phone is not on “Airplane Mode”

    2. Please open settings -> Wi-Fi on your phone and make sure it says “connected”. Not just “on”, but “connected” to the same network of your PC. If your PC or laptop is also using Wi-Fi make sure it is connected to the same Wi-Fi network that your phone is connected to. Also make sure that Mobile Data / Cellular Data is Turned OFF. Also, please make sure that both your devices are connected to the same 2.4 ghz or 5ghz router. This is usually indicated in the Wi-Fi name. (Example: Brian Wi-Fi 2.4ghz or Brian Wi-Fi 5ghz)

    3. If you have a firewall on your computer, it may be preventing the connection. You can try disabling the firewall (as a test only) to see if it is the reason for connection problems. If you are using something other than the Windows Firewall, please make sure Akruto is listed as “allowed”. If this does not work, completely turn off your firewall and force a sync if still does not work please restart your PC and Phone.

We will wait for your response
